I dont fault the City Lounge for trying, but from what I read the facade grant was not applicable to what they were trying to do, which was build an outside beer garden.

However, I sure wish the Mayor and Alderman would walk down main street and kick those owners into gear. No matter how many flower pots you hang, it wont hide the dirty patch work.

If practice doesnt make perfect, then why give kids homework? I am surprised at such a literal interpretation from a teacher.

Even in the natural world, if you practice a movement your muscles "memorize" how to correctly do it. This is an example of practice makes perfect, muscle memory.

Thanks Randy. To be honest, it's galling to me to hear that the request you referenced above still hasn't been dealt with. I know you and I don't agree on much of anything, but I think we can agree that open, responsive government is a good thing.

Randy, I can relate to what you're talking about here. I submitted an open records request to the South Milwaukee school district almost two full weeks ago, and I have yet to receive any response. The open records request was a request for a list of all the pay raises received by district administrators over the past four years, either by percentage or dollar amount, and as luck would have it, our superintendent (Dave Ewald) handles all open records requests for the school district.

I'm hoping I get a response soon, because it would set a disappointing precedent if the school district decided to stonewall me on my request.

I was watching a news report of the hearing and there was a firefighter on the stand and the Chief's attorney was cross examining him. The attorney asked him if there is firehouse language that gets pretty bad...and the firefighter said there was but "not that bad" and you could hear quite a few people at the hearing moan and groan over that answer. So...now I am thinking my suspicions were correct about the kind of language that is used by some on the SMFD.

Well...it looks like the Fire Chief will keep his job after a 90 day suspension. I wonder had the Mayor given the Fire Chief a lengthy suspension instead of three days off if any of this (PFC hearings) would have happened. I would like to say there wasn't any testimony regarding any similar language being used at the SMFD by other employees. I was suspicious since it was so easy for the Fire Chief to use that language in front of the employees that perhaps it was the norm but it looks like it is/was not the norm.

You have no idea how much "City Lounge" ticked off the owners of the new condos in that area. The explination those condo owners got was" He had the license, passed from his father (at a different location) and the area is properly zoned. Back to the "good old boy" system.

So, what did that bring the "bar count" to in that four square block area? Is it six or seven? Maybe eight?

So much for the "saturation of bars" the city leaders worry about so much.

I know what the city's plan is. A few more acres of vacant lots, Cudahy can build another airport.

Let's tear down a few more houses and remove them from the tax base.

I'll say it again. St. Francis knows how to use Hwy 794, a precious asset. Cudahy doesn't have a clue.

How about posting a sign on a vacant lot in Cudahy and have it read: "Mayor McCue's accomplishments as Mayor of Cudahy". I am sure that he will be proud of it ! Just another wake-up call to a future election.You voted for him, this is what you got as a result.

Let's live in reality when it comes to anything airport related. Cudahy is on the "wrong side" of Mitchell International.

Yes, Cudahy is closer for hotel space than S. 13th St. as far as hotels goes but these have the advantage of being on the I-94 corridor.

Cudahy has a disadvantage of having only two east-west streets feeding directly into the city. On the south is College Ave, quick but often congested. On the north, there is Layton Ave. with its' daunting gauntlet of stop lights.

A convention center and hotel? PLEASE! Let's look at the surrounding competition on Howell Ave and 13th St. at College Ave. Before I would commit one tax dollar, I would study their occupancy rates.

If the private sector believed that there was money to be made, hotels and convention centers would have already worked their way up Layton Ave or College Ave instead of springing up where they have.

Let's also keep in mind that Cudahy has FAA height retractions on buildings near Mitchell International.

What should really be examined are the business on International Dr., find out why they located in Cudahy and try to attract similar businesses.

We should also remember that baby boomers are on the brink of retirement and looking for small communities with good services for their retirement, but still have ties to the area.

St. Luke's South provides an anchor for the medical care that would be needed for the elderly.

We need to use the assets that are already here before we start planning for something that "might work" in 20 or 30 years at a great cost to taxpayers.

Without having seen the rest of the newsletter, the best guess I can make is that the city's portion of the levy went up by 2.5% despite the $275,000 in cuts that were made because of rising operating costs. After all, the cost of fuel, utilities, health insurance premiums, etc. increase from year to year.

But like I said, that's just my guess, because I haven't seen the entire newsletter.

I post most comments. I look at the criteria that it must make some sense. I keep them all and compare what those NO named fake users post. I also post the ones that are just laugh out loud funny. Most of those don’t have the impact the sender thought of. People that lie will slipup.

Jenny/Craig/Justin/Al blogs on many of the other liberal sites. It wasn’t until 3 different blogs sent me an IP address that it made sense. Children, what to do with them?

I am just wondering because it seems that you let people post just about whatever they want. Which is how it should be since we are discussing important issues.
