Library Happenings

Happenings at the South Milwaukee Public Library

By Bob Pfeiffer, Library Director

Hope you all had a great summer! The Library was extremely busy. We had over 500 children sign up for the summer reading program and over 474 kids and parents attended the Wednesday afternoon programs. A very special thanks to the many businesses who donated money or coupons that we gave away to children who read at least 300 minutes or to the younger kids who had stories read to them that amounted to 250 minutes.

Hey parents! Be sure to sign up you children for story time, which begins on Tuesday, September 4th. We have one session at 10:30 on Tuesday morning and another at 1:30 on Tuesday afternoon. Call the Youth Room at 768-8195, ext. 3 to register.

Local children's author Janet Halfmann, whose new book "Little Skink's Tail", was just published, will present a program for children on Wednesday, September 19th at 3:30 in the Youth Room. She will read several stories, including her new book, do some craft programs and sign copies of her book, which will be available for sale.

The Friends of the Library will be holding their fall book sale on Saturday, September 8th from 9:30-3:00 PM.

The South Milwaukee Public Library Foundation, Inc. will be holding their annual wine tasting on Friday, October 19, 2007 at the library from 7:00-9:30 PM.
